Charitable programs

At Amer Sports, one of the goals is to inspire the children of the world to discover the fun of exercise, helping them stay healthy and active throughout their lives. Amer Sports also believes in the power of sports to help people stay motivated and achieve more in their lives, even away from their athletic endeavors.

In 2010, Amer Sports and LiiKe ry, a Finnish non-governmental organization, continued their fourth year of developing sports and education in Tanzania. The goal of the cooperation is to develop primary education, gender equity, health, school attendance and increased opportunities for secondary education through sports.

Over the past four years, Amer Sports has donated more than 22,000 Wilson soccer balls, basketballs, and volleyballs to more than 1,100 Tanzanian schools, which have been used by more than 500,000 children under the supervision of more than 4,000 LiiKe trained teachers.

Amer Sports’ brands are also very active with charities around the world. Wilson is The Official Sporting Goods Equipment Sponsor of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), Wilson donates a minimum of $100,000 annually through the purchase of Wilson Products to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and to date has donated more than $2 million to the foundation. To further their support, Wilson launched Hope, a line of sporting goods equipment created exclusively for women.  With the Hope products, Wilson makes an additional donation to the BCRF.

Bonfire snowboard apparel is the founding corporate partner of “Boarding for Breast Cancer” and has supported this organization since its inception. Boarding for Breast Cancer is a non-profit, youth-focused education, awareness, and fundraising foundation whose mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and the value of an active lifestyle.

In 2010 Suunto donated a portion of all proceeds from the new Suunto Core Extreme Edition Everest to the Apa Sherpa Foundation to help support the education of the children living in the remote village near the base camp of Mt. Everest. Arc’teryx aids local homeless and has also given support to Bicycles for Humanity. Precor’s “Precor Gives” program continues the company’s generous matching donations program for its employees in which the company will provide matching funds to employees’ donations.

For the past 10 years, the Salomon foundation has worked to facilitate the daily lives and social and professional reintegration of competitors and mountain workers who have become physically handicapped due to an accident or illness. It is the Salomon Foundation’s way to thank mountain professionals and competitors for their contributions to improving sports equipment and facilitating sporting activities.

Amer Sports Winter & Outdoor in Utah is involved in many charitable programs throughout the community. The employees’ commitment is evident through partnerships with the Ogden Nature Center, Weber Pathways, Sustainable Ogden Committee, the Utah Special Olympics, and many more.

In Asia, Amer Sports China has performed volunteer work for a local orphanage in Chang Shu near Shanghai, donating toys, nappies and powdered milk formula. The orphanage visits include playing and spending time with children. Amer Sports China also participates in the charity 5 km run in aid of prevention of breast cancer.

Amer Sports Latin America, based in Mexico, donates products to several institutions and associations, mainly those who help kids, eg Casa de la Amistad, dedicated to helping children with cancer. Amer Sports Latin America also co-sponsors the Mexican Tennis Federation to take tennis to state schools.
