Charitable programs

At Amer Sports the charity activities continued to focus on supporting organizations that help people stay healthy and active throughout their lives, especially children and youth. One of the goals is to inspire the children of the world to discover the fun of exercise. Amer Sports also believes in the power of sports to help people stay motivated and achieve more in their lives, even away from their athletic endeavors.

LiiKe ry

In 2011, Amer Sports and LiiKe ry, a Finnish non-governmental organization, continued their fifth year of developing sports and education in Tanzania. The goal of the cooperation is to develop primary education, gender equity, health, school attendance and increased opportunities for secondary education through sports. Liike was recognized in Finland Sports Gala 2012 for its long-term work motivating children to go to school in developing countries.

Over the past five years, Amer Sports has donated more than 30,000 Wilson soccer balls, basketballs, and volleyballs to more than 1,600 Tanzanian schools in Mtwara, Singida and the most recently Lindi regions, which have been used by more than 500,000 children under the supervision of more than 10,000 LiiKe trained teachers.

Japan Relief Fund

Amer Sports organized a matching donation program to its employees to aid Japan after the earthquake and tsunami. The company matched employees’ contributions, dollar for dollar, euro for euro. The contributions came from all over the world, form several locations, for instance Australia, Austria, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Mexico, Russia, Sweden, UK and the US and the final sum was donated to the Red Cross’ Japan relief fund. 

There were several other actions to support the Japan Relief Fund. Various products were collected, mainly apparel and footwear from Salomon, Wilson, Arc’teryx and Bonfire, and donated to Japan. The shipments were arranged to Sendai, the area that suffered most. Additionally, Atomic and Wilson had fund raising events with their athletes who autographed sports items which were auctioned. Wilson also organized video messages from Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori for all of Amer Sports employees, customers and families affected by the disasters.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation

Amer Sports’ brands are also very active with charities around the world. Wilson is the Official Sporting Goods Equipment Sponsor of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), Wilson donates a minimum of $100,000 annually through the purchase of Wilson Products to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and to date has donated more than $2 million to the foundation. To further their support, Wilson launched Hope, a line of sporting goods equipment created exclusively for women.  With the Hope products, Wilson makes an additional donation to the BCRF.

The Ricky Barnes Foundation

Wilson Golf is dedicated to support the launch of The Ricky Barnes Foundation which will help support a variety of causes, including childhood obesity and golf programs for youth. In the foundation’s inaugural year, Wilson Golf has committed to donating $10,000 in golf equipment.

“Boarding for Breast Cancer”

Bonfire snowboard apparel is the founding corporate partner of “Boarding for Breast Cancer” and has supported this organization since its inception. Boarding for Breast Cancer is a non-profit, youth-focused education, awareness, and fundraising foundation whose mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and the value of an active lifestyle.

Birds Nest project

Arc’teryx aids local homeless with its Birds Nest project which grew out of a search for a solution to prevent unused fabric from ending up as waste and was initiated by the employees. Arc’teryx has also given support to Bicycles for Humanity organization. Precor’s “Precor Gives” program continues the company’s generous matching donations program for its employees in which the company will provide matching funds to employees’ donations.

Salomon Foundation

For the past 10 years, the Salomon foundation has worked to facilitate the daily lives and social and professional reintegration of competitors and mountain workers who have become physically handicapped due to an accident or illness. It is the Salomon Foundation’s way to thank mountain professionals and competitors for their contributions to improving sports equipment and facilitating sporting activities.

Amer Sports Winter & Outdoor

Amer Sports Winter & Outdoor in Utah is involved in many charitable programs throughout the community. The employees’ commitment is evident through partnerships with the Ogden Nature Center, Weber Pathways, Sustainable Ogden Committee, the Utah Special Olympics, and many more.
