Clubs for different player profiles

From Next magazine issue 4/2009. Text by Wilson

Wilson Golf recently announced its 2010 launch of new irons for players of all skill sets. Each new iron fits into a player profile system that Wilson recently unveiled based on global iron sales.

F = Feel

The F (Feel) player is a skilled golfer looking for Tour-caliber performance. The FG Tour iron is designed for just such players. The FG Tour Iron features a classic design, and is Wilson’s first cavity-back forged iron. It's currently played on Tour by Padraig Harrington, Ricky Barnes and Anthony Wall.

C = Control

The C (Control) player is attracted to Tour-inspired designs coupled with game-improvement technology. C players expect excellent playability from their irons, but also require for forgiveness on less than perfect shots.

The Ci9 iron follows in the footsteps of its award-winning predecessors, the Ci6 and Ci7. Ci9 offers player's club looks in a midsize head for excellent workability and maximum forgiveness.

D = Distance

The D (Distance) player is looking first and foremost for the longest and straightest shots, and relies on technology to address swing flaws. Wilson offers two unique equipment options for the D player.

The powerful Di9 iron features low and back weighting that gets the ball airbone easily. It also features Wilson's patented wide-tip technology that reduces twisting on off-center hits. D players now have a revolutionary second option in Wilson's D-FY combo set that includes hybrids and irons. D-FY's patent-pending Half-and-Half shaft was inspired by high performance Demarini baseball bats. By combining a steel half and a graphite half into a single shaft, D-FY deliers the feel of graphite with the response of steel.
