Amer to sponsor an ATP tennis tournament in Finland

Amer Group Plc and Amer Sport, the importer of Wilson tennis equipment in Finland, have signed a contract to be the main sponsors of the 1999 Amer-Wilson-Tampere tennis tournament. The tournament, which features prize money totalling USD 50,000, takes place in Tampere, Finland between 17th and 25th July 1999.
Amer Group Plc and Amer Sport, the importer of Wilson tennis equipment in Finland, have signed a contract to be the main sponsors of the 1999 Amer-Wilson-Tampere tennis tournament. The tournament, which features prize money totalling USD 50,000, takes place in Tampere, Finland between 17th and 25th July 1999.
Amer is sponsoring the tournament for the seventh year in a row. The world's oldest continuously arranged Challenger-level tennis competition and the only ATP tournament in Finland, the tournament is now in its 18th year.
The Amer-Wilson-Tampere tournament belongs to the Challenger series of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), which attracts mainly promising young players. Eight players who have competed in Tampere early on in their careers have later made it into the world Top Ten. These include, for example, Spain's Carlos Moya, ranked No. 1 earlier this year, who took his first steps as a professional in 1995's Tampere ATP tournament.
