Wilson dominates US Open

Amer Group is proud to announce that four out of the eight men's and women's semi-finalists at the US Open played with Wilson Hammer tennis racquets, and two of them made it to the finals. Serena Williams won the women's singles title as well as the women's doubles championship along with her sister and fellow Wilson Advisor Staff member Venus Williams. On the men's side, Todd Martin became the men's runner up.

Serena Williams, now ranked # 4 in the world, won her first singles Grand Slam tournament by defeating Martina Hingis, the # 1 player in the world. I didn't know what to do, laugh or cry or just scream, so I think I did it all, said Serena.

Serena plays with the Wilson Hammer 6.4 Power Holes Stretch racquet. The Hammer racquet features a weighting system in which weight is taken out of the handle and maintained in the racquet head to create a higher sweet spot. A super lightweight racquet with mass in the head provides great manoeuvrability with the added benefits of superior stability and enhanced power return.

Todd Martin, now ranked #4, plays with the Wilson Hyper Hammer 5.3, featuring Wilson's breakthrough Hyper Carbon technology, which is four times stiffer and stronger and 65% lighter than other popular materials. The Hyper Hammer 5.3 was recently ranked by Tennis Industry Magazine as the No. 2 racquet in a consumer play-test, second only to Wilson's Hyper Sledge Hammer 2.0.

Wilson Sporting Goods, one of the world's leading manufacturers of sports equipment, is a subsidiary of Amer Group, based in Finland. Wilson Racquet's 1998 net sales were EUR 196 million with operating profits of EUR 18 million.
