Wilson Staff Advisor Paul Lawrie has finished as the 1999 British Open Champion. A Wilson Advisory Staff member since 1993, the 30-year-old Scotsman plays Wilson's technologically advanced Fat Shaft Irons.

Lawrie shot a final round 67 and won after he birdied the final two holes of a four-hole playoff with Justin Leonard and Jean Van de Velde. Paul Lawrie hit some unbelievable iron shots this week and proved once again how accurate the Fat Shafts are, said Luke Reese, Vice President and General Manager, Wilson Golf Worldwide.

Lawrie's victory marks the first Major Championship for the Fat Shaft Irons and the second Major for Wilson Golf in the past year; with Vijay Singh winning the 1998 PGA Championship playing Wilson Staff Irons.

Wilson Golf's most prominent Staff Advisors include Vijay Singh, Padraig Harrington, Glen Day, Costantino Rocca and John Huston.

Wilson Sporting Goods, one of the world's leading manufacturers of sports equipment, is a subsidiary of Amer Group, based in Finland. Wilson Golf's 1998 net sales were EUR 211 million with operating profits of EUR 9 million.
