Top tennis players Venus and Serena Williams have signed endorsement contracts with Wilson Sporting Goods to use Wilson racquets.
The Williams sisters have both used Wilson racquets for the past 18 months, but now we are proud to say it's official, said John Embree, Vice President & General Manager, Wilson Racquet.
Venus, currently ranked # 3 in the world, has had great success playing with the Wilson Hammer 6.2 Stretch, winning e.g. seven singles titles and four doubles titles. Ranked # 7 in the world, Serena has won three singles titles and four doubles titles with her Wilson Hammer 6.4 Power Holes racquet.
The Williams sisters' racquets are based on Wilson's patented Hammer technology, which features a higher sweet spot. Combined with a super lightweight racquet the technology provides great manoeuvrability, superior stability and enhanced power return.
Serena and I have always liked playing with Wilson racquets, stated Venus. When you hear the name Wilson, you know you're playing with the best technology, added Serena.
Wilson Sporting Goods, one of the world's leading manufacturers of sports equipment, is a subsidiary of Amer Group, based in Finland. Wilson Racquet's 1998 net sales were EUR 196 million with operating profits of EUR 18 million.
