Austrian Olympic team sees success in Salomon shoes

If you watched the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics and kept a close eye on the Austrian team as they entered the stadium, you might have spotted something: the Austrian Olympic team was equipped with Salomon shoes.

Salomon has been the official shoe outfitter for the Austrian Olympic team since 2014. In Tokyo 2020, shoes of models INDEX.01Sense Ride 4, and RX Break 5.0 are worn by 70 athletes and 180 team members.

The shoes might have brought some extra luck to the Austrian team, as Anna Kiesenhofer unexpectedly won cycling gold in women’s road race.

The official news site of the Olympics writes: “Kiesenhofer has had an unconventional journey to the top echelons of the cycling world, having previously competed in triathlon and duathlon until injuries forced her to stop running. She also completed a master’s degree in mathematics at the University of Cambridge in England, and a PhD in applied mathematics at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain. However, her decision to concentrate on cycling has now paid dividends as she took home one of the ultimate prizes in sport at Tokyo 2020.”

You can watch the Austrian Olympic team’s video of Anna in German here.

Congratulations Anna Kiesenhofer, team Austria, and team Salomon on the fantastic journey!
