Inbound Transportation Manager Olivia Cho’s passion for e-sports intertwines with her professional life. She bridges the two worlds by harnessing lessons from both, which fuels her professional growth.

As an avid player of League of Legends, one of the most popular e-sports games, Olivia Cho has gained invaluable skills that translate into her professional realm in logistics.

“League of Legends offers a ‘strategic environment’ — much like my work — where you solve challenges with team members from across the world. Most of the time, you don’t know each other. You must quickly create a team, decide your role, and build a strategic plan,” says Olivia.

In the game and at work, Olivia is a master at identifying her skills and leaning on them to optimize operations and drive objectives forward. By doing so, she believes she can make a meaningful impact on others and the business.

“I feel lucky that I’ve always had managers who have been able to see the value I can bring to the table, and where my skillset and personality fit best. I’ve also always been proactive in seeking opportunities. I always think, ’How can I further optimize operations and add most value?’”

Olivia’s drive to excellence and curiosity to learn have propelled her career forward. In 2015, she joined Arc’teryx as an Outbound Logistics Coordinator. Today, she works as Inbound Transportation Manager for North America at Amer Sports.

Navigating the unpredictable by embracing communication and collaboration

Olivia’s role requires her to navigate a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and ensure that transportation operations run smoothly and efficiently.

“Every day is different — you never know what will drop on your table. I work closely with my team members located in our main regions. We strongly support each other.”

Olivia explains how effective communication, trust, and mutual support among team members lead to success. This is what the gaming realm and the real world have in common.

“In League of Legends there are multiple communication channels — internal signals, external messages, and live voice chat. You need to select the optimal communication method for your situation and make decisions. Such decisions, anchored in trust, cement the foundation of triumph.”

Much like a gaming squad, the Transportation Team relies on a symphony of skills, dedication, and synchronized efforts to drive them towards shared objectives.

“At work we are similarly united, as we all share the same purpose and goals. We stay true to who we are and build trusting relationships with integrity. Our team mantra is ’your success is my success’. Together, we can reach new heights, push boundaries, and reshape what is possible.”

Uniting global talents and igniting success

Just as the world of e-sports thrives on the collective strength and collaboration of diverse talents, Olivia sees a parallel in harnessing the power of the global Amer Sports community.

Her eyes shimmer with excitement as she envisions our growth journey. To her, it’s an opportunity to take our diverse experience to new heights and team up to grow stronger.

“I am excited about working better together with our brands and sharing best practices. I am eager to leverage the collective wisdom of our global community. When diverse minds converge, each offering distinct perspectives and experiences, true magic happens. There are many exciting opportunities ahead, and I look forward to capturing them together as a team.”
