The outdoors, like life, is a canvas waiting for your unique footprint. In the quiet whispers of potential, in fleeting moments and lingering thoughts, a powerful refrain emerges: “I am capable”, “I can do this”, “This is for me”. It’s an uplifting melody, echoing the belief that transcends doubt and sets the stage for empowerment.

It takes courage to challenge oneself, to question the limitations imposed by society, and to embark on a journey of self-discovery. Yet this courage often finds its roots in the inspirational stories of those who have boldly navigated similar struggles, shattering stereotypes and transcending boundaries. In this article, we share stories of some of the many women who are elevating the world through sport.

Let these stories serve as a testament to the fact that breaking boundaries is not reserved for just a few. As you step forward into your own journey, may you find inspiration in the resilient footsteps of those who dare to redefine the impossible.

The Speed Project

“I think you kind of lose a bit of confidence if you don’t do things that impress yourself once in a while. I need to prove to myself that I can do some crazy stuff,” says Ocean Lewis, a Speed Project runner.

Following a team of eight runners, four supporters, and two filmmakers, the Salomon documentary chronicles their 340-mile relay race from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. Running through airplane graveyards, away from wild dogs, and crossing the infamous Death Valley Desert, they push their minds and bodies beyond expectations. Set in the environment of this extreme physical feat, the messages taken from the Salomon film are parallel to all aspects of life, inspiring others to break expectations, push boundaries and chase their own high.

Girls Skiing

“We aim to empower women worldwide, allowing them to experience the exhilaration of skiing, engage in outdoor sports and foster meaningful connections with kindred spirits,” say Lilli Schaut and Jule Saalmüller.

With the ambition to close the gender gap and create a more inclusive outdoor community in their hometown Innsbruck, Lilli Schaut and Jule Saalmüller are setting up a free Ski School for women.

Both being certified ski instructors themselves, their mission is to provide women in the area an opportunity to discover the world of skiing, engage in outdoor sports and connect with like-minded people.

Offering free lessons to anyone open and motivated, they aspire to create a safe and inclusive environment to learn and grow and establish a sense of community among those not yet a part of the Innsbruck outdoor sports scene.

Mountain Guide Morgan Mc Glashon

“I was lucky to find a mentor that believed in me and saw my skills when I was young. There are so many people who’ve done a lot for me, helping me turn my dream into reality. I want to do the same for others,” Morgan says.

Nearly a decade ago, guide Morgan McGlashon was invited to climb and ski the Grand Teton in Wyoming, an experience that proved transformative. Now, she pays it forward by leading fresh faces into the mountains, sharing her knowledge, and building community. Her story is one of empowerment, where her passion for the outdoors is not just a personal journey but a guiding force inspiring others to discover their own paths.
