Salomon has partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports Europe to broadcast and support the Golden Trail World Series (GTWS) circuit, the leading short distance trail running circuit, to a growing audience of sports fans globally. Through this extended partnership, WBD Sports Europe will oversee the production, distribution and localization of multi-market broadcasting of GTWS races, the ongoing promotion of the circuit on digital media platforms, as well as marketing the series internationally to attract future partners and sponsors.
“Salomon is one of the most successful, most-recognizable and growing sports brands,” shares Patrick Maitrot, Head of International Sales & Partnership at WBD Sports Europe. “We are excited to launch our new 360-degree collaboration and look forward to working with an innovative partner in Salomon to expand trail running into new markets. We believe in the growth potential of the product alongside the sporting format for the Golden Trail World Series, which is recognized as the flagship event on the global trail running calendar. We are confident that our combined sports and storytelling expertise coupled with WBD’s production capabilities, unmatched global scale and proven track record of elevating sports, will support the continued growth of trail running through greater international exposure than ever before.” “Since the early 2000s, Salomon’s running products and international athletes have contributed to the international growth of trail running – now a world-renowned sport and drawing thousands of runners to each race. Salomon brought the GTWS to live television for the first time ever in 2023 with Eurosport, which was a milestone for the sport,” shares Scott Mellin, Salomon Global Chief Brand Officer. “The GTWS is a highly entertaining, TV-ready format with races featuring steep climbs and technical descents. Thanks to Warner Bros. Discovery, we know we can bring this sport and circuit to the next level of entertainment.”
For the 2025 season, the GTWS features eight spectacular trail races, including stops in Japan, China, Italy, Spain, the US, Mexico, Austria, and Switzerland.
New CSR program
Following the work done over the past 5 years, the GTWS unveils a new CSR program which includes a new open-source “My Event Impact” tool developed in partnership with Protect Our Winters, AirCoop and key races to assess the impact of events before their selection and track their progress once part of the circuit. This CSR program, which will be fully unveiled at this year’s GTWS Grand Finale, advocates for more responsible sport and championing diversity and inclusion.
