As a global group of iconic sports and outdoor brands, Amer Sports serves a wide range of sports, providing apparel, footwear, and equipment to people who want to enjoy an active lifestyle and connection to the outdoors. This all is inherently linked to sustainability, encompassing health, well-being, and nature.

Our Sustainability Report 2023 highlights our efforts on our sustainability targets and performance during 2023. It covers how we manage sustainability, how we look after people, how we care for the planet, and how we are working towards our future success.

In 2023 Amer Sports conducted a double materiality assessment, which confirmed the most material sustainability topics for Amer Sports considering the outward impacts and inward dependencies of our business model. The Amer Sports Sustainability Report is issued on behalf of the entire Group, and it is aligned with reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines, including the GRI index.

2023: A year of progress

In 2023, we conducted a human rights impact assessment and a double materiality assessment to identify the most significant sustainability issues in our operations and value chain. Both assessments create a solid foundation to drive our sustainability work further.

Amer Sports is committed to the Paris Agreement and its goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius. During 2024, we expect to have our net-zero targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Arc’teryx and Salomon have previously set science-based emissions reduction targets, approved by the SBTi. Our commitment to climate action is further evidenced by our consistent ‘B’ score on the CDP climate questionnaire over the past two years.

Building and strengthening our participation and partnerships was one of our focus areas in 2023. In addition to the UN Global Compact, we joined the World Federation of Sporting Goods Industries (WFSGI).

In 2023, we strengthened our governance by reviewing all our sustainability-related policies and initiating work towards a unified sustainability policy framework. An independent ESG Risk Assessment by Sustainalytics rated us as “Low Risk.”

Significant advancements were made in sustainability data management. We introduced new software to improve data collection, quality, and to prepare to assurance processes.

“In 2024, we will continue to focus on our high-priority topics and understanding their impacts, risks, and opportunities even better,” says Tea Lindfors, Senior Sustainability Partner for Amer Sports.

We are confident that our strategy, actions, and measures will support our journey towards sustainable growth. We will continue working towards this goal together with our unique portfolio of brands and the talented people that comprise our global Amer Sports community.
